An Edumacational Selection

oppositesSo I was just clicking through facebook randomly because I skipped class today and have no life, and I noticed that a lot of bigger, taller guys tend to have really small, petite girlfriends. I remember the conversation I had with my brother on the weekend when we went out for bubbletea and he was all, “it’s nature’s way to make everyone average” blah blah… But since I am average, what kind of mate do I unconsciously seek? This ties in with all those lectures in sociology about mate selection, and how we can sniff out pheromones and all that when we are dating/meeting people and the ones who don’t “smell” right are genetically incompatible with ourselves! (and it’s not B.O., but having B.O. will likely lower your chances at finding a mate unless you are dating someone with no sense of smell…) :cheese:

My lectures basically state that we tend to find someone with similar socio-economic and educational backgrounds, but not entirely similar personality traits because then they would just annoy you. And we all go about dating muscle-y guys in the short term, and settle for the regular guy for the long term.

Seems like the sociologists have figured out quite a bit about mate selection, now all we have to do is make a machine to find your “perfect match”, imagine how easy that would be! I can see it now, all you have to do is fill out a form, including values, physical features, interests etc and you stick it into a machine, and it tells you who and where your perfect person is. All the time wasted dating could be saved to do better for the world. You wouldn’t have to go out for years only to find that your significant other is a secret panty collector or doesn’t like to eat cheese or something hahaha :cheese:

edit I realize the end of my post makes it sound like Oscar is the panty collector and doesn’t eat cheese but I can assure you he doesn’t collect panties and often enjoys a platter of cheese with me :star: although… SECRET panty collectors would be much more secretive about their collection than be stupid enough to show their girlfriends now, wouldn’t they…

I want an award too!!!

I just watched the academy awards. I was waiting a whole hour just for them to get to best actor/actress/picture… Slum Dog Millionaire sure won a lot of awards :/ Honestly I thought WALL-E should’ve won best song but pfffffft what do I know.

And Kate Winslet! So adorable! :pink: And the speech Marion Cotillard gave was so sweet.

I kind of want an award too now… haha. But what would I win? :star:

You didn’t think i knew what a eugooglizer was?

FINALLY the model photos came for the website I has to make for my club’s fashion show… I watched Zoolander during lunch and couldn’t help myself while I was processing the male models photos, I couldn’t stop thinking about those awesome, awesome quotes.

I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking.

He’s Just That Easy To Understand

I watched He’s Just Not That Into You tonight with my girlfriends, and it was better than I expected! I read the book back in high school, and re-read it at work a few weeks ago… It’s a really simple guidebook for relationships and the movie’s feel-good ending(s) is just the whipped cream on top :glace:

I didn’t REALLY have time to read the entire book again at work -shifty eyes- I just read the headlines from the chapters and some of the examples, they were still pretty funny. I thought about relationships in general and what my friends and I have all gone through, and it’s really that simple, yet we thrive on the drama, and we make up all these excuses because we have so much hope that these guys secretly really likes us that much :bear:

So, to reiterate the very simple, and quite genius rules (not exceptions) – he’s just not that into you:

if he’s not asking you out.
if he’s not sleeping with you.
if he’s not marrying you.

so move on, plenty of other fish ;)

Busy Coming Up

happy early valentine’s day! i hope everyone will gorge on chocolates and candy and all that red and pink stuff. (wow i just figured out there is a whole new row of text functions in wordpress?) … anyway, tomorrow i have to do my photoshoot for the portraiture project our (very anal) professor gave us, and before that I have to sit through 3 hours of lecture about art theories. art is already weird enough, and the readings this term are HORRIBLE. horrible, half-translated readings about entirely ephemeral things. I liked it better last term when the professor actually spoke student-language.

prepare for some photos of my friend Lok in his harry potter glasses! and i will probably take pictures of oscar and me eating at the boathouse. yum yum yum.

I don’t have much planned for reading break. I think I will probably end up playing poupee girl all week :pink: not good! too much poupee makes becca go crazy.

and i put up emoticons for comments :star: whoever uses them the most effectively… gets a gold star :star: :star: :star:  lols. OOH make a story. whoever makes the best story wins.
